Bushmere Estate

Gisborne is located on the east coast of New Zealand’s North Island and is the first place in the world to greet each new day. It's Maori name 'Tairawhiti' translates as ‘the coast upon which the sun shines across the water’. Bushmere Estate's award winning wines owe much to its 17 hectares of vineyard located in the Gisborne Central Valley. Situated just 5kms from the beach in vines receive cool sea breezes from the Pacific Ocean which temper the long, hot days of summer. Free-draining clay loam and silt soils allows for premium ripening conditions. These chardonnays celebrate their reputation for displaying lush tropical fruit flavours, consistently high fruit sugar levels boasting melon and peach aromas, and distinctive mineral characteristics. Bushmere is 100% family owned and its vines, planted 32 years ago, are still tendered by the family today. The Bushmere Estate range is a boutique production of only 2500 bottles per year hand-crafted by wine-maker Amelia Rewai. The logo using the koru design is symbolic of eternal growth, and represents the three elements vital to the growing of grapes –earth, water and sun.
